I have a brother down in Florida that thinks he can do his own custom website design for his new website. I told him that it would probably be better to let a professional web design company do it for him but he is set on saving money and doing it himself.

I can almost predict what is going to happen in the long run. He will spend countless hours trying to learn coding and all kinds of computer jargon and in the end the website will look like crap but no one will have the heart to tell him.

It will ultimately affect his traffic and sales and may even cause the entire idea to fail. He will probably blame it on the economy or some other lame excuse but it will because of his unprofessional looking website. I just wish he would listen to me and not learn this one the hard way, his idea is good and he is going to ruin it.

Also with custom web design, there is more to it than just having a nice looking website. A professional web company would also optimize the web pages so that they would show up in the search engine rankings. My brother will not do that either so no one will even be able to find his website.
